Frequently Asked Questions — Whipps Ramps

At Whipps Ramps, we design and manufacture premium Australian-made aluminium loading ramps for machinery operators, contractors, farmers and home users. Below are answers to the most common questions customers ask when choosing the right ramp for their machine.

1. How do I choose the correct capacity for my machine?

Always select a loading capacity based on the total weight of your machine, including fuel, attachments and operators (if riding on).
All Whipps Ramps are rated per pair and include a built-in safety margin to ensure real-world durability. If you’re unsure, give us a call — we’ll recommend the correct capacity for your loading height and machine type.

2. Are your ramps Australian made?

Yes — every Whipps Ramp is designed, tested and manufactured in Australia using Australian-extruded structural-grade 6082-T6 aluminium.
Each piece is Webster hardness tested before fabrication to ensure consistent strength and reliability.

3. Are your load ratings per ramp or per pair?

All load ratings on our website are per pair, unless specifically stated otherwise.

4. What lengths do you offer and how do I pick the right one?

Ramp length depends on your loading height (ute, trailer, truck or flatbed) and the machine you’re loading.
Longer ramps reduce the loading angle, making loading safer, smoother and easier on your machine. We offer a big range of lengths.
If you're not sure which length is best, we can calculate the ideal option for you.

5. Do you make custom ramps?

Yes — custom fabrication is a key part of what we do.
We can build ramps to suit:

  • Hinge-on trailer mounts
  • Hook-on round or flat bars
  • Custom widths or capacities
  • Unique machines or loading angles
  • If you need something specific, we can manufacture it.

6. What’s the benefit of curved mower ramps?

Our curved mower ramps are designed to prevent the cutting deck from scraping or catching on the apex between the ramp and the trailer/ute tray. This makes loading zero-turn and ride-on mowers safer, smoother and damage-free.

7. What ramp top connection types do you offer?

We offer a wide range of connection options, including:

  • Standard - flat connection plate secured with pin - supplied with ramps
  • custom - hook-on to flat-bar or round-bar
  • custom - hinge-on trailer or truck

8. Are Whipps Ramps suitable for steel tracks & rubber tracks?

Yes — our heavy-duty industrial tread-rung profiles and structural aluminium construction are suitable for steel tracks*, rubber tracks, tyres.

* to keep ramps in good condition for longer we recommend the use of rubber belting to drive over for a little extra protection.

9. How heavy are the ramps? Can one person lift them?

Whipps Ramps are made from lightweight structural aluminium, making them portable and easy to handle while still maintaining exceptional strength.
Many models can be safely carried and positioned by one person. As we offer a range of models in high capacities, weights do vary.

If the weight isn't listed on the specific product your interested in please send us a message.

10. Are the ramps certified or tested?

Yes — all Whipps Ramps undergo:

  • Structural design testing
  • Load testing with appropriate safety factors
  • Rigorous in-house testing of every design
  • Webster hardness testing on each aluminium extrusion pre-fabrication

11. How long does manufacturing take?

We build our ramps in-house. Standard models are usually available quickly, and custom builds typically take only a few days depending on workload.
If you’re in a hurry, let us know — we often accommodate urgent jobs.

12. Do you offer Australia-wide freight?

Yes — we freight Australia-wide.
Customers can choose:

  • Delivery directly to a Mainfreight depot, FedEx depot or one of their agents depots

We stand behind our products — if anything ever concerns you, reach out and we’ll sort it.

14. Why choose Whipps Ramps over cheaper imports?
